The Third Annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLPARK!  Are you looking for GREAT Family Fun at an affordable price and at the same time, want to support a local wish-granting group?  Join the excitement on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Victory Field for the third annual Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge, benefiting Indiana Children’s Wish Fund and presented by The Tony Stewart Foundation.  Fans have the opportunity to witness their favorite hometown Superstars battle it out in a 5-inning celebrity softball game. Players include the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers, mascots, media personalities and other sports stars.

Tickets are ONLY $5 and FREE for children ages 3 and under. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the game starts at 7 p.m. In addition to the softball game, a special Kids Interactive Game area will be available and includes fun games, face painting, and local mascots. The evening will conclude with a balloon release. Tickets to the Caroline Symmes Memorial Celebrity Softball Challenge are available at www.indyindians.com or can be purchased at the Victory Field box office.

Robert Mathis, Pro Bowl Defensive End of The Indianapolis Colts and Roy Hibbert, Center for the Indiana Pacers, will host the event. Last year, over 25 Indianapolis Colts players, including Peyton Manning, Jeff Saturday, Pierre Garcon and Dwight Freeney, along with Indiana Pacers Danny Granger and Jeff Foster, television and radio media personalities and other celebrities participated in the softball game. WISH-TV Channel 8 and WIBC and 1070 THE FAN radio stations are the media partners.  Anthony Calhoun (WISH-TV sports director) and  Mark Boyle (Indiana Pacers) will serve as co-Masters of Ceremony.

Prior to the game, 1070 THE FAN will hold the “Budweiser Home Run Derby”, courtesy of Budweiser .

“This is an amazing event, bringing together celebrities, Wish children and our community,” says Terry Ceaser-Hudson, Executive Director of Indiana Children’s Wish Fund.  “Fans have the opportunity to see their favorite celebrities up close, get autographs and enjoy a fun family event.”

The event is in memory of Caroline Symmes, a Wish child who was involved with the inaugural softball event and passed away in December 2009.  Caroline’s parents, Elizabeth and David are honored to have Caroline’s name attached to this annual family event which promotes Indiana Children’s Wish Fund.

Proceeds from this event will help Indiana Children’s Wish Fund grant wishes to Indiana children, ages 3 -18, who suffer from a life-threatening illness. Indiana Children’s Wish Fund has granted over 2,000 wishes within the past 26 years to Indiana children. Wishes include; trips to Disney World, meeting celebrities, shopping trips, home computers and much more.
