The TechPoint Mira Awards Were Awesome

I know… I know… I am a little late at posting this story. The Techpoint Mira Awards were on Saturday and I’m just now writing about the awesome event. This was a huge night for everyone involved and some major Indiana technology companies and individuals walked away with awards.

I was humbled and blessed to be presented with the Young Professional of the Year award. The Mira Awards identify the most innovative and successful firms and individuals in information technology, as well as technology-focused companies in industries like advanced manufacturing and logistics, health and life sciences, and clean technology. “Gazelle” awards are given to fast-growing startup

companies that have been in business for only a few years, as well as awards highlighting educators and institutions that help

connect technology and learning.

The event was awesome and even more important were the friends that won as well. Randy Stocklin (One Click Ventures) and Jeremy Derringer (SlingshotSEO) both took home awards for excellent in new media and

information technology. Last but not least, Scott Wise from Scotty’s Brewhouse took how the New Media Innovation award. What a great night!

This year, well over half of all companies participating in the Mira Awards are companies thatdidn’t even exist five years ago. According to TechPoint President and CEO Jim Jay, this is a real testament to the strength and resiliency of Indiana’s tech sector – that so many startups could not just survive, but to actually grow and thrive during the greatest global recession of our lifetimes.

I hope those of you who attended enjoyed yourselves as much as the TechPoint staff and friends did! I've been a part of planning dozens of events over my 15-year career and I can honestly say that the 2009 Mira Awards was one of my favorites. Congrats to all of the winners and to my fellow staffers for producing such a classy, well-oiled event (the line to stuff my face with the spring rolls notwithstanding)!!!

great team…thank you foe writing about it

  3. Ken Thompson wrote B, mainly based on BCPL, which he used to write Unix, based on his experience in the MULTICS project. B was replaced by C, and Unix developed into a large, complex family of inter-related operating systems which have been influential in every modern operating system (see History).
