I have to admit that keeping up with the social media is very time consuming and sometimes frustrating. I'm new to it all and understand that it takes time to see results. I've been told that patience is an area I should focus on for personal growth. I'm getting some practice...

Seth, Thanks. I think I am on Plan F now and looking at Plan G on my other terminal.. What I am finding is my target market is not online and the high costs of marketing offline is not in my budget. I have researched to find out the reasons the market will not come online which only challenges me to educate more of my market that all is not bad online as they are being told it is here. So, I keep on keeping on. Somehow I just keep thinking that I am missing something.

Kyle, Also thanks. My goal is like everyone else, to make what I do worth-while which I don't think is a flaw in my goal but maybe the arena I am battling in.

Keep up the input. Together we stand a chance to find a solution. Separately we are doomed to mediocrity.

@Scott What is your goal? What is the "worth-while"? If your "worth-while" hasn't become "worth-while" maybe you should reevaluate your goals?

@Nicki If the company has assessed their goals and social media marketing could play a role in the strategy to reach the goal... by all means, add it into the traditional marketing strategy.

Nice post, Kyle. Social media is definitely something that takes time, persistence, and care. I have experienced droughts at times in my blog posts and SI activity, but I get back up, dust myself off, and continue.

It's so amazing how warm and welcoming our social media networks are when they see you back at it.

I, like you, spend quite a bit of time nurturing my social media activity, and am so happy that I have... I am really starting to feel the effects of the time that I've put in.

Any company that hasn't implemented a social media strategy with their current marketing plan should really take into consideration that it is a necessary way to build those strong, lasting relationships. It works!!!

Great point Scot.

Sometimes, the market is telling you something. And when your tactics repeatedly don't help... time to try plan B.

Good advice, but what if you have been knocked down more times than a bowling pin and gotten up more times than the Energizer Bunny and still are not generating a following large enough to make it worth the while? Changing gears and changing stages are the natural thing to do to keep it going, but what else can be done when all the mapping and consistency is not paying off? There are REAL people who would like to know.
