SocialMention is a great free tool!

Delivers excellent results - I highly recommend using it for those with limited budget.

Kyle,

Smiling at your comments. I've yet to figure out how to comment on a blog before it's posted, and especially when I'm on an airplane (which is where I was when you did). :)

One of my favorite tricks for setting up some of your own social media monitoring is to use an aggregator like NetVibes or iGoogle to capture RSS feeds from your searches and build a DIY dashboard. While you're growing into a solution like ours, it makes it a lot easier to see your monitoring results at a glance.

Thanks, as always, for the shoutout. You're the best. :)

Cheers,
Amber Naslund

Google Alerts can do a lot more than most people realize. All you need to do is learn a few simple syntax rules. I've written a free Google Alerts Marketing tutorial that your readers might find interesting: http://www.alertrank.com/google-alerts-marketing....

And yes, I did find this post through a Google Alert for "google alerts." :)

I enjoyed your helpful tips and comments at the Social Media Boot Camp. I'm glad to see you mention SocialMention on this list. I ran across it yesterday, and I immediately signed up for their RSS and alert services. I think it's the best alternative to Radian6 for nonprofits.
